Feedback and Mitigation

Interactions between ecosystems and the climate

Biospheric feedback to global change and mitigation options to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere. Consequences of land use strategies and exploitation of biospheric resources for energy production for soil quality and ecosystem productivity. Main focus areas are:

  • Strategies for land use and management to increase soil organic C pools for reduce CO2 emissions

  • Strategies for use and production of biomass for energy, recycling of residues to minimize losses of greenhouse gases, nutrients and soil structural qualities.

  • Year to year variation in biosphere-atmosphere GHG exchange.

  • C-sequestration and GHG responses to imposed global change parameters.
