Materials Science

The materials science activities within the superconductivity group range from growing large single crystals suitable for neutron scattering experiments and to processing of high temperature superconducting tapes for large scale applications.

The activities include:

Mirror furnace growth of metal oxide single crystals.
Phase diagram explorations.
Development and characterisation of high temperature superconducting tapes and wires.
In-situ synchrotron diffraction studies of sythesis of superconducting tapes.
