As early as spring 2007, IPCC issued a warning about the inevitability of climate change. On 17 November, IPCC published its synthesis report containing an interdisciplinary compilation of the conclusions from the three working groups on the climate system, climate impacts and reduction policies. Risø DTU has contributed to the conclusions of the report, e.g. through senior specialist Kirsten Halsnæs, who has been the leading main author in IPCC’s working group 3.

 | One of the most important conclusions of the report is that the global temperature increase must be stabilised at under 2-3 degrees Celsius. Risø’s status as national laboratory in sustainable energy entails that Risø contributes directly with the research required to realise these targets.
In this issue of RisøNews, we focus on the current climate and energy issues for Denmark and the industrialised countries as well as on the technological solutions that we are currently developing. In RisøNews 1 2007, we focused on the climate and energy issues in the developing countries. |
