The research activities are interdisciplinary, hence the underlying areas of expertise cover a wide variety of disciplines The total division staff numbers 70 employees, including an academic staff of 65, namely engineers, natural scientists and economists as well as social and behavioural scientists, of whom 9 are either PhD students or postdoc fellows.
Of the division activities about two thirds are financed through national and international research contracts or contracts with national agencies and international organisations as well as industrial companies and utilities. The remaining one third is financed by government appropriations.
The division collaborates closely with Danish and foreign universities, research institutes and industrial companies, as well as national ministries and international organisations such as the European Commission, Nordic Council of Ministers, International Energy Agency (IEA), World Bank (WB), Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), World Energy Council (WEC), United Nations (UN) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
