The Framework Programme is organised in four work packages (WP's) representing two phases. In the first phase (WP1, WP2, WP3), experimental and modelling methods are developed and established.
In the second phase (WP4), the methods are applied to materials problems of industrial interest. The mechanical properties of composites - such as strength and fracture toughness - depend on the mechanical response of the fibre/matrix interface, and we hypothesise that different interface properties are optimal against different failure mechanisms.
