Advanced materials for hydrogen storage

Design of functional nanomaterials

The group is part of the consortium “Design of functional nanomaterials”, which was recently granted DKK 14 million under the Danish Research Council’s NABIIT program. Among others, the consortium includes the Center for Atomic-scale Materials Physics (CAMP) and at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and several industrial partners, e.g. Danfoss A/S and Haldor Topsøe A/S.

The project deals with the development of rational design strategies to make new functional nanostructures, based on a thorough theoretical and experimental analysis at the atomic scale.

The work in the hydrogen storage group is focussed on the development and optimization of new solid state hydrogen storage media and catalytic particles at the nano scale. On the basis of on an integrated theoretical and experimental effort, we are particularly focussed on optimizing the hydrogen storage potential in complex hydrides and metal ammine salts.
