Methodological issues and empirical assessments of the costs of international climate change policies

An important part of the basis for decision making in international climate collaboration is the cost of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and of the different options for climate change adaptation. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assesses the scientific literature on climate change issues and in this way compares methods and results from all over the world. Kirsten Halsnæs has been one of the leading authors of the IPCC Assessment Reports since 1993, focusing on the comparability of bottom-up and top-down modeling studies, their critical assumptions, the costs and methodological issues for developing countries, and the integration of sustainable development criteria in cost studies of climate policies.
