RESPOND: Renewable Electricity Supply interaction with conventional Power generation, Networks and Demand

Identifying possible improvements in the response of the electricity systems in selected European countries to efficiently integrate renewable energy technologies such as wind.
Completed

The main general objective of the RESPOND project is to increase the penetration of renewable energy for electricity and distributed generation – in particular wind, solar photovoltaics small-scale combined heat and power in the European electricity system by identifying possible improvements in the electricity system's ability to efficiently integrate these technologies. An effective regulatory framework with a clear responsibility allocation between market and government is of major importance.

The RESPOND research project is supported by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, under the Energy Intelligent – Europe (EIE) 2003-2006 Programme. There are seven partners from Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
