Workshops are very important contributors to the analysis. Stakeholders give important insights into policy change and the ways in which it can lead to difficulties in rural communities and industry. Engaging with decision makers and actors is essential—the future is in the hands, not of researchers, but those who till the soil, those who provide the framework for policy, and those who will lead in the introduction of new technologies. Together we can provide a vision of the future enabling proactive policies to be developed at EU and regional level. This will in turn provide a basis for sustainable rural development for the next decade and beyond.
