Innovative advanced woodbased composite materials and components (WOODY)

The purpose of this EU project is to develop new composite structures from renewable materials; namely wood derived cellulose fibres and resin deriving from natural raw materials. The structural composites include laminates and sandwich panels reinforced with continuous long wood fibres processed to obtain textiles based on wood materials, and wood resin. These long wood fibres will be made based on cellulose nanofibrils assembled with cellulose binding domain enzymes. The resin will be made of furfuran that is derived from hemicellulose.
