Industrialisation of polymer solar cells

Consortia members, spanning the fundamentals of the technology through design and to industrial production, shall consolidate the technology in Denmark. They aim to demonstrate transfer of the technology into industry creating first products - like solar lighting products for use in rural communities in Africa - and the basis for the future development of a cheap electricity source. Mekoprint A/S will: establish technical knowledge needed to produce polymer solar cells apt for niche products and small stand alone equipment that replace or backup other sources of electricity. Faktor 3 ApS will: establish technical knowledge in product design and integration of polymer solar cells produced by partners in consumer products. Gaia Solar A/S will: encapsulate and build large solar panels based on polymer solar cells produced by partners and demonstrate the potential of the technology for future on-grid electrical energy production. Risø DTU will: provide the necessary technical input for the above to be realized; continue business development in collaboration with the commercial partners; and continue to make improvements to the technology.
