Risø DTU joins forces with Copenhagen Capacity, Scion DTU, Copenhagen University and DI (The Confederation of Danish Industry) in initiating Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster with the main purpose of creating growth and development for energy and environment technologies.
It is the vision that the Danish cluster will be one of the leading clusters in the world, where it will differentiate itself by working across industries and value chains.
DTU's technical and scientific skills are central to the project and Risø DTU will act as the entrance to other relevant research competences at DTU, the Technical University of Denmark.
"We look forward to the project, which is well aligned with our role as DTU's National Laboratory for Sustainable Energy. The objectives of Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster is very close to our own," says Henrik Bindslev, Director at Risø DTU. "At Risø we see it as our central responsibility to ensure the use of our research results in society, and that the road from technological, research-based knowledge to the growth of existing companies and formation of start-ups will be as short as possible. But, cleantech is much more than sustainable energy and thus the activities Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster will naturally spread into many other parts of DTU."
Anders Eldrup, CEO of DONG Energy, will become chairman of the association Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster, which is established as part of the project.
Anders Eldrup will formally launch Copenhagen Cleantech Cluster at the Nordic Climate Solutions conference on Wednesday, 9 September at 13:00.
