The title of the doctoral thesis is “Slip systems, dislocation boundaries and lattice rotations in deformed metals”. It is about dislocation structures in metals, when the metals are deformed by rolling, pulling or pressing. Applications are many ranging from cars and planes to kitchenware. The topic is fundamental, but the results are of general interest and can contribute to the international research effort towards the development of new and improved metals in order to save energy during the manufacturing process and to reduce the use of raw material. Grethe Winther works in the Materials Research Division at Risø DTU. This division also produced the first female dr.techn. (Dorte Juul Jensen in 1997). The defence takes place on 29 May 2009 at 14:00 – 16:00 at DTU, Lyngby, Building 306, Aud. 31 Read the press release Read Danish abstract of the thesisDownload the doctoral thesisFor further information please contact Grethe Winther, tel. 4677 5792
