New Danish wind turbine car to take part in competition in the Netherlands

A wind turbine car built in Denmark is on its way to a race in the Netherlands. The supervisors on the project from Risø DTU’s Wind Energy Department are scientists Mac Gaunaa and Thomas Buhl. Six students will be sitting for the examination in this project during the next months with supervisors Mac Gaunaa and Thomas Buhl from Risø DTU and Robert Mikkelsen from DTU Mechanical Engineering. The car is going to pass the final test in the competition on Saturday 23 August.

The five competing cars come from universities in Greece, the Netherlands and Germany. "At the first test run last week we made the car reach a maximum speed of 17 km/h in "first gear". The gearbox did not work optimally and we expect the car to drive much faster when this problem has been solved. Since this was the first test run, we are very pleased with the result" says Senior Scientist Thomas Buhl from Risø DTU.
