Time series post processing tool (VEA-AED-9)

Purpose

To develop a postprocessing tool based on matlab or other high-order language compiler. This tool shall be able to analyse time series with respect to fatigue, statistics, extreme loads extrapolation and FFT spectra of time series outputted from an aeroelastic code like for instance HAWC2. Distributed computing can be part of this program in order to speed up the process.

Description

In order to evaluate the total loading of a wind turbine for 20 years of operation, time simulations are performed using an aeroelastic tool like HAWC2 in order to simulate all conditions the turbine can be exposed to. In total this results to about 1000 load cases. In order to find the dimensioning loads with respect to extreme and fatigue loads and to get an overview of the individual load cases as a general quality check, a new and improved postprocessing tool is needed. We have the source codes for the individual tasks such as input file reading, fatigue loads analysis, statistics, fast fourier transformation which can be used either directly in the new code or as inspiration. The important part is that the program should be easy to use, fast and correct data analysis, and can generate usable output graphically as well as in report form.
