Current projectsICOS - Integrated Carbon Observation System
ICOS is a new European Research Infrastructure for quantifying and understanding the greenhouse balance of the European continent and of adjacent regions.
IMECC - Infrastructure for Measurements of the European Carbon Cycle
The IMECC project aims to build the infrastructure for a coordinated, calibrated and accessible dataset for characterizing the carbon balance of Europe .
CLIMAITE
The “Research Centre on Biological Effects of Climate Change” – CLIMAITE – is a multidisciplinary national Danish research initiative bringing together 6 research groups to study the biological effects of such climatic changes in terrestrial ecosystems.
Brandbjerg - The Ecolocical Time Machine
The “Research Centre on Biological Effects of Climate Change” – CLIMAITE – is a multidisciplinary national Danish research initiative bringing together 6 research groups to study the biological effects of such climatic changes in terrestrial ecosystems.
CARBO-ExtremeThe EU FP7 project CARBO-Extreme investigates the impact of climate variability and extreme weather events on the carbon balance of European terrestrial ecosystems.
WUPC - Water use efficiency as a means of up scaling carbon fluxes from leaf to stand
In this project, a novel approach to assess net stand carbon uptake is used. The approach has an interdisciplinary character as it introduces the concept of water use efficiency (WUE), traditionally used for agricultural yield estimations and drought tolerance of plants, in the field of biosphere carbon cycling and greenhouse gas mitigation. The method will enable the assessment of carbon and water fluxes of the trees separately in the ecosystem and thus is an important key in understanding the carbon flux variability and how this is influenced by climate and other environmental factors.
NitroEurope
NitroEurope - or NEU for short - is a developing effort for integrated European research into the nitrogen cycle with a particular focus on:
Multiple components of the nitrogen cycle, Flux measurements, Experimental manipulation of terrestrial ecosystems, Modelling and Consideration of scenarios of past and present conditions.
Completed projectsACCENT - Atmospheric composition change
ACCENT's goals are to promote a common European strategy for research on atmospheric composition change, to develop and maintain durable means of communication and collaboration within the European scientific community, to facilitate this research and to optimise two-way interaction with policy-makers and the general public.
CarboEuropeAssessment of the European terrestrial carbon balance, incl. carbon cycling and developing a system to detect changes in atmospheric CO2.
Carbon dioxide and non-CO2 greenhouse gas fluxes from conventionally managed grasslandThe aim is to examine the importance of different managements on grassland carbon exchange as well as non-CO2 greenhouse gas fluxes.
Greenhouse gas emissions and soil N dynamic in forestsCompounds which affect air quality and global climate and, therefore can have a significant impact on the quality of life and health of the European citizens.
