Metal structures in 4D
NanometalsThe Danish-Chinese Center for Nanometal investigates metals, including alloys, with internal length scales ranging from a few nanometers to a few micrometers. These are termed nanometals, and have new and interesting properties, such as exceptional mechanical strength, which are related to their internal structure. The scientific focus is to understand and control the mechanisms and parameters determining the mechanical and physical properties of such nanometals as well as their thermal stability.
The synchrotron working group at M4DThe aims of our work group are to develop methodologies for 3D and 4D characterisation of polycrystalline materials exploiting high energy synchrotron radiation (above 40 keV) and novel tomographic reconstruction principles. And the use of such methodologies for basic science studies in materials science (plastic deformation, recrystallisation, phase transformations, hard nano-materials) and crystallography in general.
